Hello, fellow stampers. I am so glad you found me! Welcome to my first blog post on my new web page. Aside from our Island Style Stampers blog hop each month, I hope to shower you with exciting Stampin’ Up! news and share projects with you which I hope will help your creativity soar!
Our theme this month is embossing folders and I had such fun experimenting with this. I started with a 6 x 4.5 piece of white cardstock and used blending brushes in Soft Sea Foam, Crushed Curry and Lemon Lolly ink pads to make an abstract pattern.

Next, I ran it through our emboss and cut machine using the Fern Embossing Folder.

Doesn’t look like much does it?! I then very lightly went over the higher embossed areas with a blending brush in Granny Apple Green.

I cut this piece down to 5.25 by 4 and placed it on a Basic Black layer. The reason I started with a larger piece of the white cardstock is so you can have a little leeway in choosing what part of the layer you like best.

And, wa la! The finished card is on a Lemon Lolly card base. I wanted a small sentiment to show off the background and feel I could have gone even smaller with the sentiment. This sentiment is from the Unbounded Love stamp set and the dies are from the Everyday Detail dies which are on sale!.
Next, check out what Cheryl Hamilton and Malia Webb did with embossing folders this month. I’m sure you’ll love their ideas!

Love the way you’ve shown us all the steps you went through… coloring and embossing. Beautiful card! Hoping to see many more blog posts on your blog!!
I wouldn’t have thought to use blending brushes but it works so well! What a pretty card.
BEAUTIFUL ! ! ! What an awesome idea to create an abstract background with the blending brushes then embossing and highlighting some of the ferns. Thanks for the inspiration……
